Taking OPSEC a little more seriously now

ID verification, ID Verification, ID VERIFICATION! WHY IS EVERYTHING TRYING TO BE ID VERIFIED!!! I feel like I'm going insane every single day I hear this even being discussed. I'll lump in the VPN bans in here as well since both will affect not only myself but countless others as well. I remember when I first got into this whole privacy and anonymity thing back in the early 2020s when I was still in high school. Back then this type of situation was heavily discussed and prepared for. And I'm glad that I did take the time in my early to late teens to really sit down and learn for myself how these tools worked. OPSEC is a very important topic to me because of these experiences.

And it pains me that not many others seem to really care in regards to this. Like I said in my last entry regarding this at the time when I brought up the possibility of preparing for the worst I was laughed at. This time around, however, the message seemed to get through. And I hope this ins't just a one night concern for these people, I hope they start making OPSEC threat models for themselves. I know I myself personally have started taking my own OPSEC a little more seriously. I moved the creation of this Neocities site onto my laptop running QubesOS, which has long been one of my favorite operating systems that I wish I could daily drive on my main rig. I've been making sure that all of this is properly set up in the worst case scenario, and I remain forever grateful that I have enough technical skill to actually do this properly. I'm really bad at putting this into words since it's hard to describe. But I'm sure if you've done something similar to me you'd understand where I'm coming from. Maybe it'd be most comparable to getting something like Arch or Gentoo up and running properly and configuring it, I've done both as well and it's a very similar feeling.

It's just, I don't know anymore man. This all sucks, and I hope for everyone's sake that I am just paranoid but the writing is on the wall at this point. The UK was just the start to the downfall of the internet. In the event of a worst case scenario I hope I am able to keep at the very least this little Neocities site up and running without ID verifying to have at least something left. I refuse to comply with ID verification, and everything I have done here is to prevent myself from ever having to even consider doing it. At this point as I am typing this I am prepared to lose it all; Gmail, YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, all of it. I've done what I believe is all I can to prepare for this inevitability. I hope to everything that I am wrong, but I fear I may not be.
